Deck Building
Deck Building
The deck is a set of cards representing your army, but there are rules to follow when building your deck.
Ready-to-play decks
The Official Starter Decks provide you with ready-to-play decks to learn the mechanics of Cipher. Once you've got the hang of it, it's up to you to experiment and create your own deck, or choose from among the hundreds of decks shared by the Cipher Compendium community.
Deck Building rules
A deck is generally built around the Main Character, but 3 deck building rules must be followed:
- Have a deck of at least 50 cards (there is no deck limit)
- Four copies maximum for cards with the same Card Name (Unit Name + Unit Title) unless otherwise stated.
- Include one card with a Deployment Cost of 1 designated as Main Character.
Advice : Add a Hero Marker card to distinguish your Main Character; this card does not count towards the number of cards.
What's the name of the card?
The Unit Title and Unit Name on a card form the Card Name and are part of one of the deck-building rules. Example: the character “Ike” has titles such as “Greil Young Mercenary” and “Radiant Hero”, you can have up to four cards of each in your deck.
